Update
MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Following the protest action at Indwe Secondary School today, where the Public Order Policing Unit was deployed, the Mossel Bay Advertiser requested comment from the Western Cape Education Department (WCED).
Spokesperson Bronagh Hammand said that the WCED was prepared to talk to members of the RCL. Members of Congress of South African Students (COSAS) demanded to be part of the meeting.
“The WCED representatives were not prepared to meet with COSAS. The officials have no obligation to meet with COSAS representatives as per their demands. We also cannot have people forcefully entering school grounds. Our schools follow strict health and safety protocol and this kind of behavior puts everyone at risk.”
