MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Around 100-150 learners of Indwe Secondary School this morning joined in a protest action as part of their insistence on the school closing due to Covid-19 infections.
The SAPS Public Order and Policing Unit ordered the learners to disperse, stating that it was an illegal gathering in terms of the Disaster Management Act.
The learners were gathered waiting to be addressed by members of the Western Cape Education Department. Only members identified as part of the Representative Council of Learners (RCL) were instructed by the police to come forward to meet with representatives of the WCED.
“The group is peaceful, but still lingering in the streets,” reported Sgt Kapp, spokesperson of the KwaNonqaba Police.
