MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The organisers of the lawful protest march planned for tomorrow morning insist that the march will proceed peacefully.
"We are petitioning the magistrates of the Mossel Bay Magistrate's Court not to be soft in their approach to drug dealers," organiser Mzwabantu Makatesi told the Mossel Bay Advertiser.
He invited all of Mossel Bay to participate in the protest against drug dealing. "Drugs affects everyone. We know of drug dealers who have been caught and received bail more than 11 times.
We are asking the Court not to give bail to people who appear on drug charges. We are asking the Court to help us to protect our children against drug dealers. We are asking the Court to order those illegal immigrants who are found guilty on drug charges be deported."
The peaceful march will depart from the taxi rank in KwaNonqaba at 08:00. The marchers are expected to reach the magistrate's court building at approximately 10:00 where they will hand over the petition.
The organisers have given the assurance that the Dana Bay community will not be prevented from using the intersection.
However, they caution that the procession will proceed along Louis Fourie Road and advise that another route, possibly along the N2 via the Langeberg Mall off-ramp be used to get into the CBD.
"We apologise for the inconvenience but feel very strongly about the message we need to get across."
The organisers say that drugs know no colour or creed, drug abuse leads to crime and criminality which affects everyone in the community negatively.
