MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Interesting sounds, a superb sunset and delicious food all formed part of the August Mossel Bay Business Chamber networking meeting at CBS Café in KwaNonqaba.
Host Thami Douse invited the chamber members to experience a night out and they came in droves. More than 60 business people converged on the café and some of them stayed rather late, enjoying the vibe finger food prepared by the CBS Café team.
According to Thami it was his dream to have his own restaurant which he opened in difficult times on 29 November 2019. Several traditional dishes such as iSkopo, Ulusu (tripe), uJeqe (steamed bread) and uMleqwa (runaway chicken) can be found in this restaurant with a flair for local cuisine.
It also has ribs, steak and burgers on the menu.
Very interesting is that the inspiration for CBS Café came from a cookbook by former president Nelson Mandela's personal chef Mam' Xoliswa Ndoyiya, titled Ukutya kwaseKhaya (home food).
According to Thami some of the fresh produce and meat is sourced from surrounding small businesses and schools. Through this the restaurant aims to spur community development.
Thami, along with Mossel Bay Tourism, is part of an essential planning team formed to ensure Township Tours will be incorporated as a product offering for tourists.
"CBS Café is your home away from home and we are looking forward to hosting you because sinama papa aright (we have the right food for you)," Thami added.
