Leolan Academy to benefit from golf day

MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Children with special needs in the Mossel Bay area will have a new place to learn while they play, thanks to funds raised during the second annual Algoa Cares Garden Route Charity Golf Day.

"The support will go a long way in helping us achieve our mission of empowering vulnerable communities and giving hope."

"This is specifically for children with special needs (autism and Down syndrome), particularly the children of Leolan Academy in Mossel Bay," says Petrie Cronjé, chief executive officer of the Louis57 Foundation, golfer Louis Oosthuizen's charity organisation.

Leolan Academy, supported by the Louis57 Foundation, is a non-profit school in Mossel Bay for children with special needs.

Funds raised by the charity golf day will go towards purchasing a jungle gym, security fencing and a synthetic grass surface. "Your kindness and compassion will make a significant impact on the lives of these children," says Cronjé.

"Algoa FM understands how important play is as a learning and life-enriching experience. We urge the Garden Route business community to put its full support into the charity golf day by sponsoring holes and participating on the day by taking up a sponsorship package and participating," says Algoa FM marketing manager Lesley Geyer.

"Algoa FM’s golf days are known for their focus on fun and this one will be no different. We will transform a round of golf into a carnival," she says.

The Algoa Cares Garden Route Charity Golf Day will take place at Pinnacle Point Golf Club on Thursday, 1 June. Details are available on the Algoa FM website.
