MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Those enamoured by all things aesthetic are sure to have welcomed the news of an inaugural Mossel Bay Arts Festival from 14 July to 3 September.
Organisers of the annual Groot Brak Palette & Taste (GBP&T) were quick to join the district in celebrating arts and crafts of all kinds.
So this year's GBP&T has been rescheduled to fall within the Mossel Bay Arts Festival period, and so help beat the August blues with a fun programme of events.
The municipality's Community Services director, Elize Nel, says: "The Arts Festival is still in its infancy, being presented for the first time this year, but it will be modelled on other successful local events. This means the municipality will make facilities available free of charge, as well as other services, where possible.
"Festivals have a proven record of being a good economic injection for the town, but it is not always about rands and cents. Their value in contributing to social interaction and cohesion between communities cannot be underestimated."
Come the weekend of 28 and 29 July, the scenic village on the banks of Great Brak River will once again buzz with activities, with the festival hub and additional parking at Vorentoe Primary School.
The GBP&T programme will be fine-tuned over the next few weeks.
Children will be entertained - not least with a fleet of home-built go-carts - and members of Southern Cape Old Car Club will lend extra flair with their lovingly preserved vintage and classic cars. A mini rally is also on the cards and food vendors will ensure all visitors are spoilt for choice in eats and drinks.
