MOSSEL BAY NEWS & VIDEO - The KwaNonqaba community has taken a stand against the possibility of two accused being granted bail in the Mossel Bay Magistrate's Court on Thursday, 14 February.
This followed two arrests in connection with the murder of a man and the rape of a woman during the early hours of Sunday morning, 27 January.
Two men, Akona Shweni and Lwamkelo Kliwaza, stand accused of murder and rape after the incidents on 27 January.
The community appealed to the courts not to grant bail to the accused as it is appalled by the crime.
"Enough is enough; the community is fed up," community leader Shadrack Shisana told the Mossel Bay Advertiser at the court buildings.

He said the community refuse to be kept hostage by criminals and that a community meeting is planned to discuss the perceived escalation of crime in the area.
The accused appeared in B Court on Thursday, 14 February in front of district magistrate VL Ketzei. Both abandoned their bail application.
The complainant alleges that she was with her boyfriend at a residence when both accused arrived at the home. The accused indicated they were looking for someone else, and when they were informed that the person they were looking for was not at the residence, the accused apparently instructed her to lie on a bed and cover her face while they assaulted her boyfriend. The perpetrators stabbed the victim, who died on the scene
Thereafter the accused allegedly took turns to rape the complainant before they took the victim's vehicle and instructed the complainant to accompany them. It is alleged that fear-ridden, the complainant complied and was forced to sit with her head covered on the back seat of the BMW while the accused drove around with the vehicle.
At an undisclosed location both of the accused apparently again raped the complainant.
One of the perpetrators who was arrested by the KwaNonqaba police was taken into custody by the Department of Correctional Services as he was wanted for absconding on a charge of murder.
The other suspect lives in close proximity to where the murder took place. He was traced on his way to work and has since made a full disclosure to the police.
The KwaNonqaba police found a number of the items that were stolen at the time and have sent the clothes for forensic investigation.
Prosecutor Craig Merrington told the Court that the accused face charges for Schedule Six offences. Both accused were remanded in custody until their next court appearance.
