Update
MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Two suspects, aged 32 and 36, were arrested for an attempted cash in transit robbery and robbery of a firearm, when a Fidelity Cash Solutions company vehicle was attacked.
The arrest followed an incident on 6 December last year, when an armoured vehicle was attacked by six men at an Engen garage outside Mossel Bay. The suspects robbed one of the crew of his official firearm.
They then tried to access the vault of the vehicle without success and left the scene in a getaway vehicle that was later found abandoned.
Through preliminary investigation, one of the suspects was identified and on Wednesday, 4 January, the George Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI), together with members of the Garden Route flying squad arrested two suspects in the Thembalethu area in George.
The suspects appeared in the Mossel Bay Magistrate's Court on 6 January. The case was postponed to today, Friday 13 January. According to police spokesperson Sergeant Chris Spies, more arrests are imminent.
