MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The Great Brak River Conservancy is joining forces with Carpe Musicam! to bring music and conservation together with a Christmas concert at the Maritime Museum in the Bartolomeu Dias Museum Complex later this month.
This special event is to be a joint fundraising initiative that will use the power of music to raise awareness and support community-driven conservation projects undertaken by the Great Brak River Conservancy.
The conservancy said in a statement that this volunteer-driven organisation works to protect the landscapes, rivers, wetlands, indigenous vegetation and wildlife that make the Great Brak River area so special. Its work includes tackling invasive alien vegetation, protecting indigenous habitat, supporting biodiversity and encouraging residents to become active custodians of their environment.
The proceeds from the concert will support the conservancy's ongoing local conservation initiatives, while showcasing the amazing Carpe Musicam! Pops Band.
Made up of over 20 Garden Route musicians, the band promises to deliver a festive afternoon of Christmas music, all in the name of conservation
"By attending and supporting local initiatives or simply becoming more aware of the natural and cultural environment around us, everyone can play a part," said the statement.
The concert will be held at 15:30 on 29 November. Tickets are available on www.carpemusicam.co.za, or you can chance it at the door, pending availability.
