MOSSEL BAY NEWS AND VIDEO - Flags were raised and anthems sung at the Mossel Bay Town Hall this afternoon in a ceremony prior to the FIPS-M First Light Tackle Boat Angling World Championship, which will be held in the bay from tomorrow until 18 March.
President of FIPS-M, Gilbert Zangerle, gave a speech. With him was Attilio la Porta, secretary general of FIPS-M.
FIPS-M stands for Fédération Internationale de Pêche Sportive - Mer.Three countries - South Africa, Gibraltar and Luxembourg - are in the competition.
During the ceremony, outside the town hall, members of the South African Aboriginal Congress continued their protest against the competition, describing the international visitors as "poachers". It is a catch and release fisihing competition.

The demonstrators are protesting against permits which prevent them from fishing freely because they are dependent on seafood as a food source, they say.
