MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Heritage Day was celebrated splendidly during with an event at Imekhaya Primary School in KwaNonqaba on 24 September.
It was organised by the South African National Civic Organisation (SANCO) KwaNonqaba branch. Sanco secretary Beatrice Cusha went all-out to ensure it was a successful function.
The women were regal in their traditional attire.
Children showed their talent on stage with dance, song and spoken word. They were also kitted out in cultural dress. Most attendees, whether performing or not, dressed up for the occasion.

Plenty of traditional food was on offer, cooked in large pots on open fires.
Altogether it was a successful event. Beatrice told the Mossel Bay Advertiser after this inaugural event that she wanted to plan another one for Heritage Day next year.
She said: "We, as SANCO, held the event without any sponsors. We just wanted to make people remember Heritage Day, so they could leave a legacy. We wanted to teach people to use their brains and their talents.
"They can cook, sing, dance and speak. We want to teach people how to lead, not wait for the government to give them things. They can do things for themselves. Heritage Day is a very special way to remember our culture."
Beatrice Cusha is to be congratulated on her successful organising.
Vibrant dancing was enjoyed by all.
