"It is important to coordinate and facilitate initiatives that will ensure that young people gain the necessary skills, in order to play an active role in the mainstream of the economy," Tertuis Simmers, Eden Councillor and Portfolio Chairperson of Corporate Services said.
Eden District Municipality, in collaboration with Ukuthemba, which is a development project sponsored by the SETA for finance, accounting and other financial services (Fasset), officially opened the training programme on Thursday 2 August at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Oubaai.
50 unemployed matriculants from various areas in the Eden district will be trained in Soft Skills and Work Readiness, IT and English, and will obtain a NQF level 4 qualification in Advanced Accounting Certificate. The learners will also receive a stipend on a monthly basis.
