MOSSEL BAY ENTERTAINMENT NEWS - If you want a crash course in speaking French and Portuguese convincingly, while laughing until your cheeks hurt, you need to see cabaret artist Emile Minnie in action.
He performed in Mossel Bay on Friday, 17 May in celebration of the Monroe Theatre's 12th birthday.
Soon after Minnie took to the stage, he casually removed his shoes and socks, a trademark of his warm performances, focused on audience interaction.
All too soon, members of the audience were participating in back-up vocals for his rendition of The Girl from Ipanema and the like.
Minnie also entertained the audience with his upbeat, original songs that are ever so tongue in cheek. His tour of the Southern Cape is part of marketing his new album, Ongekende Wêreld.
Minnie's sister, Natasha Engelbrecht, and her accompanist, Stephanie Keyser, did a well-received show opener for Emile and celebrity geriatric Aunt Ethel arrived to serve her prized orange syrup cake for the birthday celebrations.
