Some of the girls felt there had been a bit of coercion when it came to the men's T-boxes, which were mostly just behind the ladies' Ts, giving the 'muscles' an advantage over their fairer opponents? Be that as it may, the games were hard fought and were it not for my partner (Edie Edwards) and I, who managed to win our game and preserve an ounce of honour for the ladies' section, the muscles would have effected a total whitewash! The ladies, unlike the Americans this weekend, were very gracious in defeat, but I have heard utterances already in the club hallways that a revenge game is a certainty (this time, the girls will get hold of Raymond before the game!).
The best of the league players from the Muscle Crackers, who had on the day separately challenged and beaten our league players, were Frans Gerber and Tobie Kock (scoring an unbelievable 51 better ball points). Ina Swart and Rita Wienand brought in the best score of our league players with 44 points.
In the rest of the field, the 'mossies' best men were Noel Hudson and Wessel Brand (45 points), who counted out Buks Reynders and Andre Fourie (also 45 points).
Gloria Greyvenstein and Edie Edwards were the best of the ladies (45 points), with Dawn Wessels and partner Betsie Fourie second (42 points).
To keep things fair, there was a prize for nearest the pin for both sexes. Bill Denyer won the men's and Annette Pretorius, the ladies.
Two clubs were achieved by Annette Pretorius, Joe Luggen and Noel Hudson.
All told, a lot of fun was had by all. The day ended with a few shared drinks, snacks and plenty of good golf stories of missed putts and what could have been (if only!).

All the happy winners.
