MOSSEL BAY NEWS - An emergency mock drill is taking place today, Monday 29 June, at the Shell Voorbaai Service Station. The exercise starts at 10:00 and will continue for approximately 45 minutes.
The simulation involves a bulk vehicle operator offloading diesel when a third-party vehicle, with the driver allegedly under the influence of alcohol and drugs, collides with the tanker in the offloading area.
The impact results in injuries to the operator and a diesel spill on the forecourt, requiring an immediate co-ordinated emergency response.
The Mossel Bay Fire Department, ER24, the Traffic Department, and Spill Tech are participating alongside site personnel.

The aim of the drill is to test emergency response procedures, communication protocols, medical response, site isolation, environmental containment measures, and co-ordination between Exousia Bulk Services and external emergency services.
Members of the public are advised that this is a planned simulation and there is no cause for concern.
