MOSSEL BAY GOLF NEWS - The format for last Thursday's ladies' golf competition was "IPS with a gambling twist".
Before the start of play each player chose 10 holes to calculate her final IPS score, five holes on the front nine and five holes on the back nine.
These were her "betting" holes. One bonus point was up for grabs for pars and birdies on the "non-betting" holes.
Prizes were awarded to the two top scorers on the 10 betting holes and the two top scorers on the betting holes with bonus points. Also, a prize was awarded to the participant that Lady Luck deserted on the day.
Those who played their betting holes well and on whom Lady Luck shone were justly rewarded.
In first place on 23 points was Marie Smith, followed by Catherine Bell with 22 points. The bonus points prizes were grabbed by Marie Smith with 29 points and Catherine Bell with 25 points. Bronwyn Powell's long, hard day on the course was also rewarded with a prize.
Nearest the pin on the eighth was achieved by Liesbeth von Beine.
The prize giving was a special occasion. It took place in the club's newly renovated facilities, where participants enjoyed authentic pizzas baked on the premises and the captain, Letitsha Higgs', home-baked cupcakes.
The lucky gamblers were Bronwyn Powell, Catherine Bell, Marie Smith and Liesbeth von Biene.
