So it is not too surprising that on just such a day last week, in our medal & putting competition, some of the women were inspired to produce truly sparkling results.
In the silver division, I had one of those rare days where very little could go wrong and returned a 62 nett taking the honours, but hot on my heals (just as well I didn't know this at the time) and scoring an equally amazing 65 nett was Linchen Wessels.
I must add that on any 'normal' day, this calibre of golf would win most competitions, so I apologise to Linchen for raining on her parade!
The bronze division was not to be outdone and Hannelie Borchardt once again outshone the field returning a 65 nett for first place. Annette Meyer, who has also been playing good golf of recent, was not too shabby, scoring a 69 nett for second and Sue Wright's 74 nett was good enough for third.
There were two clubs aplenty (I told you there was something in the air): Gail Botha, Annette Pretorius, Rita Heroldt, Hettie Bruwer, and Gloria Greyvenstein (2) all made two clubs.
Nearest on the 8th was Hannelie Borchardt and the putting stakes with a mere 26 putts was won by Annette Pretorius on a count out from Ilse Nel.
What an inspiring day of golf girls... hope for many more!
In closing and on a more sombre note, we were all saddened to hear of fellow golfer, Andre Zietsman's sudden ill health. All the golfers I am sure would like to join me in wishing him a full and speedy recovery. May Cynthia and his family be awarded the necessary fortitude and courage in difficult times that could lie ahead.
