MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Mossel Bay resident Danél Glockzin has kindly donated 450 kilograms of soup bones for those in need.
She gave 250kg to Heleen Meintjies, who makes pies, soup and broth. Heleen gives these to families who live along the Little Brak River.
The leftovers that she cannot use for human consumption, Heleen uses to make food for dogs roaming the streets in KwaNonqaba.
Also, Danél gave 200kg of soup bones to a woman in Sonskynvallei, also a Heleen - Heleen Coetsee - who provides food to the school children there every day. This Good Samaritan also uses the leftovers to make dog food.
Danél is the co-owner of a meat processing factory. She says: "The soup bones are all beef and game. We only do Kosher meats and gluten-free products, no pork.
"In winter I feel especially sorry for children who are hungry."
She challenges other factories and butcheries who process meat to also give what they do not use to those in need.
There are several families living along the Little Brak River in need.
