MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Truckloads of sand and boulders have been dumped in Vintcent Park - what is supposed to be a "green lung" above Park Primary School in Mossel Bay.
The grass which was growing in the park has been covered by the sand. Also, an indigenous tree has been cut and another indigenous tree, ring-barked, so it will die.
It is uncertain exactly when the trees were tackled.
In September 2020 home owners who live alongside the park fought for the park to be preserved when they heard that townhouses had been proposed for the site.
They voted against the townhouse proposal and it was decided the park should be retained in the state it was, simply maintained.

The main maintenance required is the removal of dead branches from the park and cutting of the grass.
Lease agreement
A lease agreement for the park was signed last month - on 21 September - with the municipality. One person who lives alongside the park signed it on behalf of the lessees - the 40-odd homeowners who live near the park.
It was decided last month that the homeowners would pay a small fee each month to the municipality for the upkeep of the park.
But it would appear the lease agreement has already been contravened by the lessees and that the park is not being maintained in the state it was.
The Advertiser has received complaints from residents living next to the park, saying they did not know about the lease or the actions that would be taken.
It would appear this part of the lease agreement has been contravened.

The municipality has been asked for comment, which will be published online, or in the Advertiser next week.
