MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Reports of multiple uprooted trees, damages to infrastructure, as well as power outages throughout residential areas in Mossel Bay have been received by the Mossel Bay Municipality today, 11 May, as a result of the strong winds Mossel Bay and the greater Garden Route are currently experiencing.
According to a notice issued by the municipality this morning at 11:00, all departments are on high alert and responding to incidents as they emerge. The monitoring of infrastructure is also continuing.
The municipality added that power-related issues are being attended to and that where necessary, road closures may be implemented.
Earlier this morning, around 10:30, the municipality shared a post to its official Facebook page cautioning Mossel Bay residents of the severe wind speeds recorded at the Joint Operations Centre (JOC), which has increased since 09:30.
