MOSSEL BAY NEWS - On Saturday, 15 July at Quay 4 in the Mossel Bay harbour, two divers and two students from Electrodive went diving at the popular diving spot known as Dolosse.
Among them were Tina van Wyk, an instructor, and Justin du Plessis, who came across a beautiful little fish.
Luckily they had a camera with them and took a photo in the water, although the visibility was poor.
Riaan Brandt from S.M.A.R.T. identified the fish as a John Dory, which are not usually found here.
They are usually seen at a depth of about 50 metres, right up to 300 metres.
John Dory are solitary fish and live to an age of about 12 years.
They have an "eye", the white ring on their body to fool anyone that may be stalking them.
Their jaws can extend up to 25% of their body length when seizing prey.
Athol Kerst of the Scuba Café provided the photo.
