MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Two police officers from the KwaNonqaba Police Station appeared in the Mossel Bay Regional Court on Wednesday and Thursday on charges of fraud.
The circumstances surrounding the incident are not yet known, but it is alleged the two sergeants, Thabisa Links and Velile Maxham, were bribed by a suspect.
The Mossel Bay Advertiser received an anonymous call about the officers. The caller said the two officers are still working at the station and that they have not been suspended.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Chris Spies says an internal investigation was conducted in accordance with the disciplinary regulations of the police.
“The outcome of the investigation and subsequent disciplinary process is a matter between the employer and employee. No other information pertaining to this matter can be divulged at this stage.”
The suspects have not yet pleaded and the case continues.
