Update
MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Yibanathi Xolilizwe (19) and Kgothalang Ranpleng (26), the two suspects who were arrested in connection with the murder of a Mozambican man, Tomas Chunguane (27), made their first appearance in the Mossel Bay Magistrate’s Court on Thursday 11 June.
Chunguane was killed amid the public unrest against the presence of illegal foreign nationals in KwaNonqaba, Mossel Bay on Saturday 30 May.
His body was found by the police in the New Rest informal settlement in KwaNonqaba, during the early hours of Saturday morning.
“On arrival, the members found the victim with multiple injuries. He was declared dead by paramedics,” said a spokesperson for the Southern Cape Police, Warrant Officer Chris Spies.
The accused were arrested on Tuesday 9 June.
They will appear in court again on 18 June for a formal bail application and will remain in police custody until then.
