Update
MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The sentencing of Neavan Misland (28) for the murder of Felicia ‘Blommie’ Micheals (15) in Brandwag last year was postponed once again.
Misland was expected to be sentenced in the Thembalethu Regional Court in George on Thursday 11 June.
The case will return to the Mossel Bay Regional Court on 1 July.
The finalising of the case comes more than a year after the victim’s body had been discovered in February 2025, buried in a shallow grave, a week before what would have been her 16th birthday.
Misland and the victim were both living in Brandwag and, according to several members of the community, had been in a relationship when the murder took place.
Her mother, Elvira, previously told Mossel Bay Advertiser Misland had helped the community search for Felicia at the time of her disappearance.
The Da Gamaskop Police later found some blood spatters in Misland’s residence, leading to his arrest.
Throughout the several court appearances, Misland had opted to abandon his bail application and has remained in police custody.
