They took a carriage ride with Vulcan and sat on the two old giant horses Mr Tobbs, also known as Bobby, as well as Light and took rides around the garden on these old boys.
Following this, the children were treated to a party on the spacious veranda of the farmhouse lodge where plenty of goodies were served.
Outeniqua Moon is trying to get underprivileged children into contact with the horses. Because of the Percherons' wonderful temperaments, they are ideal to engage children and build confidence.
"We are planning to do more work like this in the future. The kids had a wonderful day and some of the little ones crossed their own fear threshold into confidence and joy in the horses," says Christine Watt from Outeniqua Moon.
Outeniqua Moon also offers refuge to rescued horses. Light, is their most recent rescue from SPCA Grassy Park Cape Town.
He is now living out his golden years at Outeniqua Moon. He is 25 years old, retired and has a wonderful loving temperament.
The tiny tot and the gentle giant - Mr Tobbs alias Bobby gives a ride to a boy from Boskaboutertjies.
"His only jobs are to be petted and take lightweight kids on little walks around the garden which gives him a sense of purpose and he loves that."
Light was deeply loved by his former owner. However, things changed when two years ago, his owner committed suicide.
He used to work trails near Plettenberg Bay and then he worked the carriages at the castle in Cape Town.
After his owner died he eventually ended up in the SPCA and Christine Watt from Outeniqua Moon recognised him on facebook and took him in.
"He is a wonderful old horse with a tremendous spirit.
"He was emaciated when they got him and is now slowly picking up condition. He is now very happy living at Outeniqua Moon."
