MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The GOSA Symposium, held by the Grain Handling Organisation of Southern Africa at the Diaz Strand Hotel and Resort in Mossel Bay, has been described by farmers as a huge success.
More than 200 farmers attended the event held on 17 and 18 March, to hear about the latest agricultural issues and trends impacting their operations.
Various experts spoke at the event, including Wessel Lemmer, who spoke about opportunities and challenges for the grain handling and storage sector.
Professor Jannie Rossouw was also on the guest list as well as economist, Dr Roelof Botha, who spoke about economic recovery.
Rusty Labuschagne was invited as a motivational speaker.
Labuschagne, the successful Zimbabwean businessman who ran a safari outfit and owned a fishing resort on Lake Kariba, was wrongfully convicted in 2003 and framed by a poacher and the police.
He served 10 years in Zimbabwe's prisons, including the notorious Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison, where food shortages were common, there was no running water and people were dying on a daily basis while he was there.
He addressed the farmers and gave them a message of hope.
