MOSSEL BAY NEWS - As the chill of winter settles in across the Garden Route, the Mossel Bay Association of and for Persons with Disabilities (MBAPD) has called on the local community to show their warmth through action this Mandela Day.
The annual winter drive, a cornerstone of the MBAPD's outreach, is now under way, aiming to collect as many donations as possible of warm winter blankets and clothes ahead of Mandela Day on 18 July.
While the initiative is meant for Mandela Day, this year the receiving of donations for the drive will be extended until the end of July.
The MBAPD's spokesperson, Theresia van Rensburg, said the initiative embodies the spirit of Madiba's legacy, which is kindness, inclusion and service.
"Each year, the MBAPD strives to ensure that individuals with disabilities are not left out in the cold. The community is invited to donate new or gently used winter items, including clothes, shoes, blankets and other essentials, to help make this winter a little warmer for someone in need," she said.
Bring your donations to the MBAPD office at 2 Alpha Street, Heiderand, between 08:00 and 16:00 during the week, or arrange to drop them off on a weekend by sending a message to 073 994 3177 for a pin location.
