Update
MOSSEL BAY NEWS - A Reebok woman, Dr Anne Lubout, appeared in the Mossel Bay Municipal Court on five charges of walking dogs without a leash and paid a R9 000 admission of guilt fee on Thursday, 26 September.
She and her partner, Lodi Hechter, both appeared in court. Hechter had one charge against him, linked to Lubout's case. The charge against Hechter was withdrawn.
Lubout's and Hechter's attorney, Alice Swanepoel, said that once the fee was paid, the case was closed by the court.
She said that Lubout paid the admission of guilt fee "not because she was conceding merit but because the matter was taking up valuable time and she wanted the matter to be over".
The charges followed after five women submitted affidavits to the Great Brak Police Station against Lubout and her walking her dogs without leashes.
Mossel Bay Advertiser reported in last week's edition that the five women alleged that either they, or their own dogs, were attacked by Lubout's dogs while her dogs were not leashed.
The municipal court charges did not relate to the alleged attacks; they only stated that the dogs were walked without leashes.
Attorney Jaco Barnard, the legal representative for some of the complainants, said he was in the process of consulting with his clients on the way forward "as they still feel aggrieved by what happened".
He said a formal statement would be released following the conclusion of the consultation.
