MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The Mossel Bay Flower Show will be held at the Dias Museum from 15 to 17 September.
Because the show is earlier this year it will have a new look and the organising committee of this annual event is planning a display of the indigenous flora of Mossel Bay that will consist of dune plants, succulents and aloes, fynbos and the flowers growing near streams and in forests.
Marie Lofty-Eaton, who organised the artistic display in the Dutch Reformed South church last Easter will be in charge of this beautiful and educational display.
The competition for the best flowers will have the same categories as before: cut flowers, shrubs, succulents, pot plants, orchids, bonsai and indigenous plants. The rose section will be much smaller this year and it is foreseen there will be other cut flowers, such as ranunculus, more proteas and clivias available because of the earlier event. Once again there will be a flower arrangement competition.
Anyone is welcome to sell plants or flowers at the museum over this weekend and Erna Marx can be contacted (044 691 1067) in this regard.
Help is always needed as well as good ideas and enthusiasts - especially to recruit more participants and entries from everyone in the town and area.
Communities are encouraged to enter and take part in the competitions as many prizes are up for grabs.
Geraniums of all colours and varieties are firm entry favourites at the annual flower show.
The Mossel Bay Flower Show tells the world there is much on offer in Mossel Bay because so many tourists visit the Dias Museum during the time the show is held.
