MOSSEL BAY NEWS AND VIDEO - A drive-by memorial for colleagues was held on Tuesday, 11 August, to support the family of a Mossel Bay teacher who passed away suddenly from Covid-19.
Stevin Seconds, an educator at Erika Primary School, passed away on Saturday morning, 8 August.
Seconds was well known in the community.
He was taken by ambulance to hospital on Friday, 7 August. Prior to that he had tested positive for Covid-19.
When he arrived at hospital on Friday, he had high blood sugar and high blood pressure. Seconds had not had a history of these conditions.
He lapsed into a diabetic coma in hospital and passed away on Saturday.
A drive-by memorial in the form of a convoy of vehicles was held to honour Seconds on Tuesday, 11 August.

Erika Primary School staff, former colleagues of Seconds, as well as a member of the Education Department, Gawie Raubenheimer, were part of the convoy which went past the home of Seconds. Each motorist stopped and handed over a rose at the gate at Seconds' home.
Black balloons were attached to the vehicles in the memorial convoy.
Raubenheimer, who is the head of the district's psychological services section, offered his support to Seconds' grieving colleagues.
On Thursday, 13 August, a memorial service is being held for the Grade 7 learners whom Seconds taught and on Friday, a private memorial service will take place for family and colleagues, with no more than 50 attendees, adhering to Covid-19 protocols.
