MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The man-like "figure", dressed in a hooded top, which was spotted on rocks near the St Blaize Lighthouse has left its perch, with no clues as to who put it there in the first place.
The "man" was reportedly first spotted on the morning of 16 July by Cape St Blaize Lighthouse Restaurant co-owner, Marius Kearney, who saw it while on the deck of the restaurant.
He previously told Mossel Bay Advertiser that he first thought it was a man meditating, but as the day went on, and the figure had not moved, he suspected it might be a "mannequin".
The following day, Mossel Bay resident Michael de Nobrega visited the restaurant and chatted to Kearney about the figure. De Nobrega then made a video and took photographs of the figure.
Today, 22 July, Kearney told the Advertiser that the figure is no longer on the rocks.
"I didn't even see him leave. On Thursday afternoon (18 July), he was hanging over the rocks as if he was drunk and by Friday morning he was gone. He left in a hurry; I hope he didn't drown," said Kearney with a laugh.
"No one has claimed responsibility for it, so it still remains a mystery. I still feel there was a deeper meaning behind it being placed there," he said.

De Nobrega said he also did not know where the figure had come from but added that while the body of the figure was missing, he saw the head under the rocks on which it was perched previously on Sunday morning, 21 July.
When the figure first appeared on the rocks Dean Alberts of Absolut Security said the company received a call from a resident in the area, who said there was someone on the rocks at the restaurant.
Alberts said a response officer went to the rock and tried to get the "man's" attention by shouting up at him. When the officer received no reply, he climbed up to the figure and saw it was a mannequin, created using folded-up blankets.
