MOSSEL BAY NEWS - During their Grade 12 year, Curro's Business Studies learners are required to complete certain prescribed portfolio work in accordance with the IEB subject assessment guidelines.
As part of this portfolio, the Grade 12 Business Studies learners completed a full-day business simulation activity recently.
Curro Mossel Bay participated with Glenwood House in the entrepreneurship course offered by the Johannesburg School of Finance.
Learners were divided into teams and given the task of starting and running their own businesses. Teams had to out-strategise one another and make the highest profit.
As part of the course, learners also had to put together a business plan incorporating knowledge and key learnings from previous class instruction.
Curro Mossel Bay's two teams claimed a second and third spot out of the 10 participating teams.
On Wednesday, 17 April the Grade 9 Business Studies learners at Curro Mossel Bay, together with Glenwood House also had their first exposure to this business simulation to gain practical experience applying the knowledge and skills learnt in class to the "real business world".
The Curro Grade 9s managed to achieve a fourth position out of a total of 20 groups from both schools that participated.
