GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - Mossel Bay Advertiser marketing executive Michelle Reyneke, who scooped the Field Sales Marketer award in 2016, was once again one of the top three sales marketers in the country at the coveted annual Caxtons Excellence Awards.
The Mossel Bay Advertiser is part of the Group Editors newspaper stable, which is part of the Caxton publishing group.
In addition to Reyneke's achievement, the annual 2018 Holiday Guide, a proud Group Editors product distributed in all six of the Southern Cape sold newspapers in December, scooped the prize as Best Major Advertisement Feature/Supplement in Print and/or Digital. Even the judges felt they would definitely want a copy of this publication.
"The winner has a long shelf life with good, relevant content and a nice flow and consistency, not too busy despite the large amount of content," the judges said.
This was just reward for the hard work by group editor Ilse Schoonraad, designer Annalene Lindeque, and sales manager Julinda Aucamp. Mossel Bay Advertiser subeditor Linda Sparg played a major role by writing and collating all of the content for this publication for the greater Mossel Bay area.
Best sold newspaper
The Mossel Bay Advertiser congratulates the George Herald, our sister publication on its award for best sold newspaper of the year. This is no mean feat considering that Caxton Local Newspapers and Group Editors boast more than 140 newspapers with a combined weekly print order exceeding 3,7 million copies.
In a first for the George Herald, it scooped a total of six awards at the prestigious ceremony last Thursday evening.
The George Herald also took the laurels for the best front page of the year, while digital editor Tanya Watson and her team won the award in the category for best website in the country and digital presence.
Journalists
Kudos to the George Herald journalist, Kristy Kolberg, for being tops in the category for best headline writing. George Herald sport editor Hugo Redelinghuys won the award for best sport photo, with a second photo by him also a finalist in this category. Redelinghuys also was a finalist in the category for best sport writing.
The George Herald's Michelle Pienaar, 2018 Group Editors journalist of the year, was a top finalist in three categories: multimedia journalist of the year, best headline writing, and best human interest photo.
Graphic designer Portia Maree at the George Herald made the top three in the non-editorial advertisement feature in print and/or digital with her Black Friday sales supplement design.
