MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The Da Gamaskop Men for Change structure hosted a belated yet memorable Father's Day lunch for officers of the police station on Friday, 20 June.
Held at the Mossel Bay Golf Club, officers and police station personnel were treated to an afternoon of delicious food, encouraging and uplifting words of advice from several speakers and good company and camaraderie.
Among the speakers was the chairperson for Da Gamaskop Men for Change, Sergeant Sherman Kiewiet, who asked the officers to look at themselves before going out into communities.
Although there were a few speakers at the Father's Day lunch, the overall message was the same: a call for change among men, to guide other men and younger generations and to be, themselves, the difference they wanted to see in their communities, work, social circles and at home.
Captain Ryan Arends, Sergeant Sherman Kiewiet, Sergeant Andile Ntetha, Warrant Officer Mncedisi Mzileni, Sergeant Likhaya James, Simphiwe Thundezwa and Deon Terblanche are the Da Gamaskop Men for Change executive committee members.
Officers were also encouraged to share their troubles with one another and ask for help when needed, and to know that whenever they were going through a tough time, they were not alone in their struggles.
The speeches came to a close with a talk and prayer by the district chaplain, Warrant Officer Mncedisi Mzileni.
Sergeant Likhaya James was the programme director for the event.
