MOSSEL BAY NEWS - A member of the public told the Mossel Bay Advertiser he saw two children collecting money for what they said was a raffle for Ridgeview Primary School.
The children were at the Heiderand Mall.
The man became suspicious when he saw the children, who were carrying what appeared to be raffle forms, buying ice creams, after being given money. He tried to approach the children to speak to them, but they ran away.
One of them dropped the form. It was handmade, with handwriting on it and no school letterhead or school stamp.
The Advertiser asked Ridgeview Primary headmaster Sharlton Groenewald if the school was holding a raffle.
He said ''no" and that Ridgeview did not allow children to collect money. And if the form had been from the school, it would have been generated by computer and have his signature and the school stamp on it.
"It is a pity there is not a photograph of the two children," he said.
