ANC members and cadres flocked to Mossel Bay from as far afield as Oudtshoorn, Riversdal and Plettenberg Bay to share in the celebrations.
Keynote speakers at the event included Arts and Culture Minister Nathi Mthethwa, Minister of Women's Affairs Susan Shabangu, Treasurer-General of African National Congress, Zweli Mkhize and African National Congress Chief Whip in the Western Cape legislature, Pierre Uys.
In a hall packed to capacity by young and old, the minister of arts and culture Mr Nathi Mthetwa urged South Africans to reflect on the Freedom Charter and to see what successes the ANC movement has achieved.
"It is not only time for the whole country to celebrate the birth of the ANC in 1912, but also to reflect on the policies that has taken the country forward and to remember that only the ANC can bring real change in the country. We are focusing on the 2016 election and want to regain control of the Western Cape."
"After 21 years of democracy it now calls for reflection. The ANC movement equals progress, and the ANC wants progress in the Western Cape too. It is time to unite the nation.
