MOSSEL BAY NEWS & VIDEO - A build-up of weeks of tension among matriculants and their families was dispersed this week as the school leavers received their results on Wednesday, 8 January.
The private school results are announced by those institutions separately.
Hopefully, sleepless nights, chewed finger nails and worries about the future will come to an end now that the children know how they did.
It was announced on 8 January that Point High School's pass rate was 99.5%, Great Brak Secondary School's 85.7%, Hillcrest's 84.3%, Sao Bras' 77.8% and Indwe's 71%. These are all the high schools in the Mossel Bay municipal area.
Private school, Curro Mossel Bay, boasts a 100% pass rate in the IEB exam this year. The results were made public on Tuesday, 7 January, as matrics and their parents celebrated at a reception hosted on campus.
The atmosphere in school halls was charged with emotion. As children received their results on a printed A4 sheet of paper, there was either silence, a whoop or scream of joy or tears of joy or disappointment.
