MOSSEL BAY NEWS - It was announced on Wednesday, 8 January, that Hillcrest Secondary School's matric pass rate was 84.3%.
At Hillcrest that day the atmosphere in the hall was charged with emotion as principal, Ivan Kroneberg, addressed the matrics prior to them receiving their results. You could hear a pin drop.
Overall, those children interviewed by the Mossel Bay Advertiser were pleased with their marks.
Many screamed loudly with glee as they fetched their printed-out results from teachers who were sitting at a row at desks in the hall. One girl was sobbing with joy.

Matric boys currently undergoing initiation were smartly dressed in suit trousers and jackets, their faces painted.
Two girls were extremely disappointed, crying, and being comforted by friends and family.
The top three Hillcrest matrics were Callan Francis with 78,2%, Aliziwe Lumkwana with 73,8% and Daylin Prins with 70,4%.
