In his opening address, Alderman Harry Levendal, the mayor of Mossel Bay, vowed that the event was but the first of many to follow as there was a dire need to conquer the lawlessness and wanton destruction evident in the town. He also announced that the municipality had entered into a contract with a service provider to promote moral regeneration in the region.
The day was a celebration of song, performances and messages by faith leaders from various communities, who all called for peace, prosperity and closer cooperation against the scourge of drugs and lawlessness in the community.
Several performances by choirs and bands were interspersed with messages by faith leaders who motivated the community to repent and return to the godly ways as prescribed in the scriptures.
