MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Learners at a local primary school in KwaNonqaba were given a hands-on lesson on the dangers of crime and criminality.
Members of the KwaNonqaba-police station last week paid an unexpected visit to the school and did a proper, class to class search for illegal substances and dangerous weapons.
"I am happy to report that nothing worth confiscating was found," police spokesperson Sgt Kapp said.
The police members nevertheless used the opportunity to share valuable information with the learners.
The learners were reminded not to experiment with drugs, and not to take matters into their own hands when being bullied.
They were given valuable tips and information that will help them to fight crime in their communities.
"We also shared information on who to contact when they face a situation at home that they cannot deal with on their own."
He thanked the school's governing body, educators and the department of education for their cooperation that made the outreach to the school a big success.
Young girls were searched by female police officers such as Sgt Benita Swanepoel.
