GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - The Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation team in George and visible policing in KwaNonqaba arrested a 48-year-old man for the alleged possession of an unlicensed firearm yesterday, Wednesday 1 July.
According to a Hawks spokesperson, Warrant Officer Zinzi Hani, the police recovered a 9mm pistol with two magazines and over 554 rounds, as well as one shotgun round and 42 rifle rounds.
The suspect is set to appear in the Mossel Bay Magistrate’s Court today, Thursday 2 July.
“His arrest was a result of an intensified operation on the ground aimed at recovering unlicensed firearms in the hands of criminals,” said Hani.
