MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The hunter-gatherer instinct came to the fore during an Easter egg hunt at the Harry Giddey Park last Friday, 22 March.
Concentration and excitement were etched on every face as these modern day hunter-gatherers tracked the eggs, gathered them into bags and almost left no stone or blade of grass unturned in their quest for the chocolate treasure.
Parents, their hands held tightly, were yanked all over the park by eager youngsters who led the charge.

The hunt was organised by the Mossel Bay Surf Lifesaving Club (MBSLC) as a fundraiser. The club is an NPO, helping children achieve their goals of being lifeguards and or competitive sport lifesavers.
Easter egg fans paid R35 per person for the hunt. "We had a fantastic event," a spokesperson for the club said. "More than 200 children, parents and grandparents arrived for the hunt. Many stayed on after the event to enjoy some time in the park.
"Fundraisers such as this are important; the money raised helps the club to buy new equipment."
A bonus was that there were two, not one, golden egg winners. The winners were both boys. So there is no excuse for males not being able to find items in the cupboards or fridge at home.
"There was meant to be one golden egg, but in the end we hid two, just in case the one wasn’t found," the surf lifesaving club spokesperson said.
If you missed Friday's hunt, all is not lost. You will have a chance to find Easter eggs at the next MBSLC hunt scheduled for Saturday, 20 April.
