MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The Mossel Bay Municipality has provided the latest news regarding flooding in the greater Mossel Bay area.
Due to heavy rainfall in the town, motorists are requested to reduce speed and drive slowly and carefully, especially in Louis Fourie Road in the Voorbaai and Dias areas.
There have been reports of water entering houses and buildings. The Mossel Bay Fire and Disaster Management Services are responding to call-outs. Action taken includes pumping water out of homes and providing sandbags.
A school bus with learners in Jonkersberg cannot cross a flooded road, but according to the Windy App, it is expected that rain will dissipate in about two hours.
The Robinson Pass between Mossel Bay and Oudtshoorn, was a site of heavy rainfall and is being monitored by the Provincial Traffic Department. The pass is not closed yet.
Marsh Street in Mossel Bay was affected by heavy rainfall in terms of surface damage, but no serious incidents were reported.
The low level bridge at Riverside (before turning off to Botlierskop and Brandwag) in Little Brak is closed to traffic due to strong waterflow.
The municipality also confirmed that the Wolwedans Dam in Great Brak started overflowing at 12:45.
