MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Since 2018, as a result of the attendance of a Leadership Summit at Harvard by a group of learners, Curro Mossel Bay has embarked on a focused leadership development programme.
Initially only the learners who attended the summit were deployed as peer educators. During this project The Seven Habits of Successful Teens was explored.
In 2020 this programme has been extended to encompass a larger number of learners and to facilitate the personal growth of young leaders. Once every second week the peer leaders get together to plan and practise the activity that will have to be presented to an assigned register class, in the following week.
The focus of the programme is to strengthen skills already present in peer leaders, while encouraging other learners to participate and to grow personally.
Peer leaders have to source appropriate material and as a group, decide how the topics will be presented and decide on any activity that will be included in the lesson.
Peer educators must involve two learners from the class for each lesson.
By doing this, each learner who passes through Curro Mossel Bay is given the opportunity to develop and grow to full potential. The peer leaders are guided by Curro educators Elaine Koekemoer and Linda Willemse.
