MOSSEL BAY NEWS AND VIDEO - There was a fine turnout of knitters and crocheters on 11 June in celebration of World Knit or Crochet in Public Day.
The enthusiasts, ladies young and old and even a gentleman, congregated at the Point on Saturday to enjoy their hobby.
The group seemed to have thoroughly enjoyed the warm weather, fellowship and an ice cream to boot.
"We want to show everyone that knitting and crochet is not a dead hobby," said one of the participants, Jeni Joubert, ambassador for 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela Day.

As a member of Eden Knit Wits, she expressed the hope that Saturday's outing would recruit more members for the group. Eden Knit Wits meet regularly and do charity work in the greater Mossel Bay area.
The participants on Saturday were busy with various projects.
Marina Esterhuizen told freelance photographer for the Mossel Bay Advertiser, Elaine van der Toorn, who visited the group, that she enjoyed knitting for her so-called karretjiemense.
"I am knitting beanies for them. Karretjiemense are those who look after my car in parking spaces and the petrol attendants at filling stations," she explained.
This little one enjoyed the feel of the wool, soon to become a blanket.
