MOSSEL BAY NEWS - These key issues were discussed at the monthly municipal council meeting on 31 March.
Business Park for Kwa
The council approved the establishment of a new Business Park for SMMEs in KwaNonqaba.
The erven will be leased to qualifying businesses for periods not exceeding three years at a time at an affordable rate to stimulate the economic growth in the SMME and informal business arena in the previously disadvantaged areas, as part of the approved municipal tariff list.
The business park will be managed by the municipal Local Economic Development section on an ad hoc basis, with the criteria set in the municipal policies.
The erven are located around the newly upgraded Waste Transfer Station and accessible via Simanyana Street. Currently the municipality has a waiting list for businesses requiring vacant erven and opportunities to expand their businesses.
Following this approval, the municipality will embark on a public participation process, whereafter the matter will be referred back to the council for further consideration.
