MOSSEL BAY NEWS - BSE Welfare is a registered non-profit organisation based in Mossel Bay, which works with children who are disruptive in the classroom and who have social problems.
It is the goal of BSE Welfare to have one of its facilitators at Mossel Bay schools as often as possible.
Spokesperson for the NPO, Shahida Keffers, says the NPO wishes to minimise the high school drop-out rate.
She says the NPO wishes to develop a community-based safety net for these children.
The focus is bringing out the best in them. The NPO chooses to call them Bright Stars, and is also known as the Bright Stars NPO.
Shahida said BSE Welfare held a successful first camp for children at Outward Bound, previously called Veld and Vlei, at Sedgefield. The children were divided into two groups.
She said: "The purpose of the camp was to equip the children with self confidence, to show them they have a bright future, to help them change their view of life and to show them how to overcome different obstacles in life.
"We thank all the donors who made it possible for the children to go on the camp. We appeal to individuals and companies to donate, to help realise our mission of appointing more staff for the NPO to make it possible for educators at schools to teach children without any disruptions."
BSE Welfare currently has three facilitators, who go to schools, to assist educators and children - Shahida, Mark Morgan and Jason Hartman.
