GREAT BRAK NEWS - On Saturday, 26 August, dogs and cats were sterilised during the annual Caws 4 Paws event in Great Brak River.
It took place at the Croft Animal Hospital in Long Street and members of Caws 4 Paws, a local animal welfare society, as well as the Garden Route SPCA, together with vets from Croft Animal Hospital, rolled up their sleeves for a good cause.
The event was first held in 2007 and since then Caws 4 Paws has sponsored the sterilisation of close to 800 cats and dogs in and around the area as a free service to the lower-income communities.
Barry Greyvenstein from Caws 4 Paws says 100 animals have been sterilised so far this year.
"We simply could not do this without the ongoing support of the Garden Route SPCA staff, who collect all our patients, dip, dewormed, vaccinate and inoculate against rabies and then transport them to Croft Animal Hospital, where kind volunteer doctors and workers await their arrival."
Greyvenstein says this is an amazing community project, which demonstrates the willingness and spirit of all involved. For more information, contact Caws 4 Paws (044 620 2826).
