Members of the audience indicated their support and appreciation for the excellent work and major contribution by the KwaNonqaba Development Forum (Kwa-DF) towards socio-economic development.
It was agreed by all present that this was a great start to an overall regional socio-economic development NGO unification process.
Attendees were unified in their view that the galvanising of local and regional support into a single, inclusive focus group would go a long way in improving to overall socio-economic conditions and prospects of especially the HDI community, women and youth.
KwaNonqaba Development Forum was acknowledged as being the overall initiator and driver of this process and as such, was provided with the mandate to proactively continue with this process, including further engagements with other 'like-minded' NGOs and organisations.
The engagement of organised business, public and private sector institutions and entrepreneurs was also supported and encouraged at the meeting.
Other NGOs are encouraged to join as affiliates of the Kwa-DF and in turn, will be included in the overall dynamic positive socio-economic development initiatives of the organisation.
The Kwa-DF will also systematically increase its internal membership in line with the expansion of the entity's representation and reach.
It was further determined that the KwaNonqaba Development Forum should undergo an expanded branded name change.
It was unanimously decided to rename the organisation Greater KwaNonqaba Development Forum.
The second half of the Indaba focused on women in business. A major outcome of the proceedings was the establishment and the election of an inclusive HDI-based women's business forum.
This forum would then be under the umbrella of Kwa-DF and therefore, be affiliated to the organisation.
Due to the numerous challenges faced by local HDI business women, it was decided that it was in the best interest of women in business, especially construction, to form an umbrella lobby group for regional HDI-based women entrepreneurs.
The business women in the audience decided to name the NGO-based organisation Bomama Business Forum. The core organising committee was elected from amongst the attendees.
