MOSSEL BAY NEWS - A disciplinary hearing will take place for a Grade 11 learner at Point High School in Mossel Bay after a "bankie" of dagga was found in his possession.
It was found when sniffer dog Sticks visited the school on Wednesday, 13 April.
Headmaster Adolf Gouws says the school recently had to deal with two incidents in which dagga was found in possession of learners and he wants to send out a strong message that drugs will not be tolerated at his school.
He says he approached the Mossel Bay Police Station and the local neighbourhood watch, which authorised Sticks to pay a visit to the school.
Although Sticks stole the hearts of many learners, he was there on business and sniffed out the dagga in the 18-year-old learner's bag.
Sticks also sniffed out two vapes.
Gouws says the learner's parents were informed and the disciplinary hearing will commence soon.
Teamwork. The search fat Point High School was a joint operation of the Mossel Bay Police Station, headmaster of the school Adolf Gouws and the Mossel Bay Neighbourhood Watch, and of course, Sticks, the sniffer dog.
"I am very satisfied with how the operation went. We do not want mini drug dealing happening here on our school premises. We will continue to monitor our school and won't allow bad elements to take over."
Sticks is no stranger in Mossel Bay circles and in December he assisted police in a drug bust at the Shell garage in Voorbaai, where he sniffed out drugs with an estimated street value of more than R5 million.
